Back-On Hydraulic Truck Dumper

The back-on arrangement is a conventional truck access configuration in which the truck reverses onto the designated tipping platform.

It is suitable for unloading stations where one primary access side is available and the site provides sufficient reversing and maneuvering space.

Back-on operation can be combined with an appropriate deep or shallow foundation design.

Main Features

  • Single-side access arrangement
  • Hydraulic platform lifting
  • Project-specific vehicle restraints
  • Suitable for fixed unloading stations

Technical Notes

  • Deep foundation ZTTSJ models use a dual hydraulic cylinder arrangement.
  • Selected configurations can be designed for a maximum tipping angle of 55°.
  • Platform dimensions can be customized according to vehicle size.
  • Hydraulic power, equipment dimensions and foundation requirements depend on the selected design.
  • Shallow foundation specifications should be reconfirmed against the final engineering drawings before ordering.

Deep vs. Shallow Foundation

The correct foundation design depends on site conditions rather than the type of bulk material alone.

Selection FactorDeep FoundationShallow Foundation
InstallationRecessed platformShallow foundation structure
ExcavationGenerally more extensiveTypically reduced depth
Platform AccessCan be flush with surrounding groundDepends on approach design
Receiving PitCan be integrated into civil worksRequires coordinated receiving design
Main ConsiderationSite excavation and permanent installationFoundation depth and access restrictions
Capacity Options100–150T100–150T

A shallow foundation does not automatically mean that no civil works are required. The final structural design must consider soil bearing capacity, vehicle loads and equipment anchoring.

Drive-Through vs. Back-On Truck Access

The vehicle access arrangement directly affects truck circulation and operating layout.

Drive-Through Configuration

Trucks drive forward onto the unloading platform, complete the discharge process and leave forward through the designated exit.

This arrangement is useful when the facility handles frequent truck arrivals and can accommodate entry and exit circulation routes.

Back-On Configuration

Trucks reverse into the unloading position and leave according to the designated site procedure after unloading.

This arrangement can be suitable where vehicle arrivals are less frequent or where the available site layout favors a single access direction.

Important: Drive-through and back-on arrangements are access configurations, not separate hydraulic unloading principles.

How Does a Stationary Hydraulic Truck Dumper Work?

Step 1 — Truck Positioning

The loaded truck enters or reverses onto the tipping platform, depending on the selected access arrangement.

Step 2 — Vehicle Restraint

The truck is positioned and secured using the specified wheel stops, restraints and operating safety systems.

Step 3 — Hydraulic Lifting

The hydraulic cylinders raise the platform and vehicle to the required unloading angle.

Step 4 — Bulk Material Discharge

Material exits the truck through its designated discharge opening and enters the receiving pit or hopper.

The receiving system must have sufficient capacity for the expected discharge rate.

Step 5 — Platform Return

After unloading, the platform returns to its horizontal position. The vehicle restraints are released only after the required safety conditions are satisfied.

The truck then exits according to the selected traffic arrangement.
